Qualifications

Upon successful completion of a coach training programme, graduates receive a certificate.  These are able to be used towards accreditation with the ICF.  Our programmes offer various levels of qualification, from Level 1 for the new Coach through to Level 3 for more experienced Coaches.

Accreditation and Certification

The NZSC chooses to align itself with the International Coach Federation and applies its accreditation as a benchmark.  We do this because with the high level of international media coverage being experienced by the coaching profession, the public is gradually being educated and will become more aware of the importance of scrutinizing a potential coach’s qualifications.

At the same time, the ICF credentials are already becoming the benchmark for delineating the qualified from the unqualified. The NZ School of coaching also believes that continuing education is key to maintaining excellence as a Coach and supports and aligns itself with the ICF Ethical Guidelines, Standards of Conduct and Philosophy and definition of coaching.

The Purpose of credentialing

·         To strengthen the coaching profession and build a solid foundation of proactive self-regulation

·         To establish industry regulations and minimum standards of professional coaches and coach training programmes

·         To assure the public that participating coaches and coach training programmes meet or exceed and operate in accordance with established industry standards

The Process of credentialing

The process is rigorous and involves a number of levels which require greater exposure to both training as a coach and greater exposure to application.

Here is a brief summary of the credentialing designations for individual coaches (ACC/PCC/MCC)

  1. Associated Certified Coach (ACC)core requirements
  •    60 hours of Coach specific training

  • 100 hours of client coaching experience

  • 5 coaching references

  • A pass in an oral examination

                        2.  Professional Certified Coach (PCC) core requirements

    • 125 hours of coach specific training
    • 750 hours of client coaching experience

  1. Master Certified Coach (MVCC) core requirements
    • 200 hours of coach specific training
    • 2500 hours of client coaching experience

There is a formal application process which is requires you to make a formal submission including detailed referees, details of your training etc.  The window of credentialing is limited to a season each year.

Gaining an international qualification is an essential part of the NZ School of Coaching and each Coach is coached through this process to the levels they wish to attain.    NB: Credentialing is not permanent.  You will need to reapply and will have had to meet specific training an experience requirements.
