Coaching Guidelines

Coaching Guidelines

These guidelines are designed to give you an understanding of our role as Coach. If you are still unclear about how things will work, let your coach know.

COACHING IS ABOUT…

Creating behaviour changes that help you enhance performance and learning

Moving people from awareness to responsibility to action

A solution-focused results oriented process

COACHING IS NOT…

  • Therapy, which goes into depth about various issues dealing with the past

  • Consulting, which results in giving the client the answers

  • Training, where the agenda is fixed by the trainer

COACHING IS SUCCESSFUL WHEN…

  • The client is willing to learn, grow and take action

  • There is a gap between where he/she is now and where he/she wants to be

HOW CLIENTS ARE COACHED

The coaching relationship is designed by both the coach and coachee and may be refined through ongoing two-way feedback.  Coaching is Co-Active. Even though we are committed to your journey, you will ultimately be responsible for action taken or not taken, in your life throughout the process.

Coaching sessions usually last from .45 minutes to 1 hour and can be done either face to face, in person or through SKYPE or over the telephone.

Coaching is about what happens in the session, AND after the session, in the time between sessions, where you apply what you have been working on.  You will get homework – usually 3 actions to focus on between our sessions.  If it is too much just say so.  If you want to be pushed harder, just ask.
